This full time role involves providing project and administrative support to the PMO and to strategic projects. You will contribute to multiple projects at any given time. You will also help develop and maintain project management templates, tools, and the wider methodology. In addition, you will support the PMO SharePoint Hub. You will help build project management skills across the Information Services team. If you hold a degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification, this role suits you. A formal project management certification such as PRINCE2 Foundation or APM PFQ is required, or willingness to achieve it.

Provide project management support to IS colleagues assigned to projects
Undertake aspects of project management for small projects through the full lifecycle
Ensure completion and maintenance of detailed project documentation for each stage
Maintain documents such as the PID, project plan, reports, and closure evaluations
Coordinate refinement of project management arrangements and share lessons learned
Develop project timelines, manage budgets, and oversee progress
Regularly report on milestone progress and budget status
Coordinate project close out activities with support from the project manager
Provide informal training on IS project methodology to individuals or small teams
Manage the PMO mailbox and triage support enquiries
Escalate complex issues when needed
Lead administration of the PMO SharePoint Hub
Keep all documentation and data up to date with proper version control
Maintain PMO project lists for requested, pipeline, active, and archived projects
Support Project Managers in delivering workshops and engagement activities
Assist in requirements gathering using techniques such as workshops, interviews, and process mapping
Identify issues, propose solutions, and demonstrate agility in response to challenges
Support PMO performance management including monitoring service level agreements
Collate and record performance data and management information
Compile data into project reports
Coordinate PMO governance meetings including project boards and IS Programme Board
Schedule meetings, prepare documentation, keep records, and follow up on actions
Support procurement activity and contract reviews
Document business analysis and user requirement workshops
Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification
Formal project or programme management certification such as PRINCE2 Foundation, P3O Foundation, or APM PFQ, or willingness to achieve it
Experience in a busy work environment with ability to work under pressure
Experience supporting and documenting a PMO or similar business area
Experience scheduling and coordinating project boards and governance activities
Demonstrable experience writing user support materials and project documents
Excellent understanding of MS Project, SharePoint, O365, and related tools
Experience capturing and managing data with high precision
Customer oriented approach to service design and delivery
Highly organised with ability to work calmly and systematically
Excellent communication skills for a wide range of stakeholders
Ability to investigate, gather, collate, and analyse information
Digitally adept and inquisitive about new technologies
ITIL certification
Customer service certification
Knowledge of project management methods and experience managing small projects
Experience working with ITIL and Customer Service Excellence standards
Experience in performance management and continuous service improvement
Experience training others in project management
Experience in the higher education sector
The annual salary for this Project Officer role ranges from 32000 to 38000 GBP. Your experience and qualifications determine the exact amount.
