City University Ajman needs a passionate Sociology Faculty member to join its team. This full time role involves facilitating student learning and delivering effective instruction. You will evaluate student performance across assigned classes. In addition, you will contribute to curriculum development and program assessment. You will also help enhance academic policies. If you hold a PhD or equivalent in Sociology or a related field, this role suits you. Experience in sociology research or teaching is required. Demonstrated expertise in sociological theories and methods is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning through effective instruction and evaluation

• Follow standard course outlines for sociology classes

• Develop course curriculum, handouts, lectures, discussions, and presentations

• Support student learning objectives in sociology

• Participate in program level learning assessment activities

• Articulate learning outcomes and administer measures

• Evaluate student performance and suggest improvements

• Propose and implement policies to enhance academic development and research

• Collaborate with faculty and administrators to develop program curriculum and standards

• Integrate sociological theories and methods into course materials

• Schedule, supervise, examine, and evaluate students in internships and field experiences

• Work with the Dean to align Course Learning Outcomes with Program Learning Outcomes

• Contribute to the Program Assessment committee for the Sociology Department

• Maintain accurate student records and submit grades on time

• Follow university standards and deadlines

• Ensure adherence to audit, quality assurance, and risk management procedures

• Maintain high standards in teaching, research, and resource management

• Prepare course materials and uphold scheduled responsibilities including office hours

• Remain available to students via office hours, email, or phone

• Coordinate with the Dean and College members on research projects and community engagement

• Participate in faculty evaluation processes

• Contribute to community service projects

• Ensure a safe, healthy environment and proper maintenance of equipment

• Foster a dynamic and forward looking learning environment

• Supervise academic advising and stay current in sociological research and pedagogy

• Attend professional conferences and pursue continuing education

• Follow the Professional Development Plan proposed by the Dean

• Participate in university activities and meetings

• Perform other academically related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent degree in Sociology or a related field

• Experience in sociology research or teaching

• Demonstrated expertise in sociological theories, methods, and applications

• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

• Commitment to academic excellence, research integrity, and student success

• Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and policy implementation is desirable
