Job Purpose of A Specialist Internal Medicine

Being one of the clinical roles within the Clinical Services of the hospital, purpose of specialist is to ensure establishment of services at the hospital in line with International standards and to meet and exceed accreditation standards.

What You Will Do As A Specialist Internal Medicine At University Hospital Sharjah

• Admitting patients to hospital under the supervision of consultant.
• Carry out full admission documentation (history and physical, Admission note and initial integrated plan).
• Ordering treatments and medications.
• Liaising with Non Clinical / Clinical staff.
• Conducting ward rounds at least once daily & if required with the consultant.
• Prepare for & participate in consultant / senior staff rounds.
• Keeping daily records of inpatient progress.
• Attending specified clinics.
• Following up patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Following up results of investigations and adjusting patient treatment / management accordingly.
• Preparing patients for procedures or surgery.
• Obtaining patients informed consent.
• Performing invasive procedures / surgery under the supervision of consultant.
• Receiving calls and seeing patients from the Emergency Department and specialty clinics.
• Receiving calls and consultation requests from other departments or hospitals.
• Seeing patients referred for consultation.
• Maintaining a good working relationship and professional conduct with all members of the staff and hospital staff.
• Providing on call coverage on a rotational basis during evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays, as required and may be required to do in house on call
• Maintain and complete medical records for all patients in a timely manner.
• Assuming other duties as assigned by the consultant/ department chief.
• Participate in Quality improvement activities meeting JCI & regulatory requirements.
• Implementing clinical pathway / guide line or applicable.

What You Will Need?

Qualification

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).
• American Specialty Board or equivalent in accordance with MOH requirements.

Experience

• At least 3 years of clinical experience beyond completion of Internship.
• Minimum of 3 year experience following board certification in an active, acute care accredited institution or equivalent.

Certification

• BLS certificate.
• ACLS certificate.

License

• UAE Ministry of Health license.
