About the Role

The Lab Technologist in Mechanical Engineering at American University in Dubai will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, and operation of laboratory equipment used in mechanical engineering courses and research. Furthermore, this role supports faculty in delivering hands-on learning experiences and ensures all lab environments meet safety and operational standards. Moreover, the technologist will assist in the development of new experiments and lab procedures aligned with the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities for Lab Technologist Mechanical Engineering at American University in Dubai Dubai

• Manage and maintain mechanical engineering laboratory equipment, tools, and instrumentation
• Support faculty in preparing and conducting laboratory sessions and experiments
• Coordinate the procurement, inventory, and storage of lab supplies and materials
• Monitor laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with university health and safety standards
• Develop and update documentation for lab procedures, equipment manuals, and safety guidelines
• Assist students with technical guidance during lab sessions and project work
• Contribute to the calibration, testing, and repair of laboratory instruments
• Promote a safe and efficient lab environment for students and faculty
• Lead the setup of new lab experiments and support research activities within the department

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field
• 2+ years of experience working in an engineering laboratory or technical support role
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering lab equipment including CNC machines, materials testing equipment, and thermodynamics systems
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and other technical staff
