Specialization Areas and Teaching Scope

The Full Professor will be expected to teach courses in one or more of the following specializations: International Relations, International Security, and Political Science. Additionally, the Full Professor will carry a teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year and will be expected to serve as a scholarly leader within the college, mentoring junior faculty and graduate students while setting the tone for academic excellence across the security studies curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

The Full Professor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in International Security, International Relations, and Political Science at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the role requires rigorous assessment of student performance, provision of individualized academic advising, and active engagement in scholarly research. Moreover, the Full Professor will participate in administrative and committee work at the college and university levels, contribute to curriculum development and accreditation activities, and provide professional and community service in full alignment with AUE’s institutional mission and academic excellence standards throughout the academic year.

Qualifications and Senior Rank Requirements

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Security Studies, International Relations, Political Science, or a closely related field from an internationally accredited institution. To qualify for the rank of Full Professor, candidates must demonstrate an extensive and distinguished record of scholarly publication in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, a history of successful research grant acquisition, and significant experience at the doctoral supervision level. Additionally, prior leadership experience in academic program development, curriculum design, or departmental administration is required. Furthermore, candidates with policy advisory roles, government security experience, or affiliations with international strategic think tanks will be viewed favorably.

As a Full Professor, the successful candidate will be expected to lead research initiatives within the College of Security and Global Studies and contribute to establishing CSGS as a regional center of excellence in security and strategic studies.
