American University in the Emirates
Nothing is Impossible
The American University in the Emirates (AUE) invites Ph.D. holder applicants for full-time faculty positions at the ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor within the College of Security and Global Studies (CSGS) for the Fall Semester of Academic Year 2026–2027 in Dubai. This is a specialized and highly relevant academic opportunity for scholars with expertise in security, crisis management, and strategic studies. Furthermore, successful candidates will contribute to the development of future security professionals, policy analysts, and strategic leaders through rigorous academic instruction and impactful scholarly research.
The college is seeking faculty members with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines within Security and Strategic Studies: Crisis Management, Emergency Management, Disaster Management, and Risk Management. Since these are applied and rapidly evolving fields with direct relevance to the UAE’s national security landscape and regional stability, candidates who combine strong academic credentials with practical security or emergency management experience are particularly sought after. Additionally, faculty will contribute to the Bachelor of Arts in Security and Strategic Studies program, one of the most distinctive programs offered at AUE.
Full-time faculty members at CSGS will carry a teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year, delivering high-quality instruction in their respective areas of security and strategic specialization. In addition to teaching, faculty members will assess student work, provide individualized academic advising, and participate actively in departmental and university-wide committee activities. Moreover, engagement in scholarly research, publication in peer-reviewed security and strategic studies journals, and professional and community service in alignment with AUE’s institutional mission are fundamental expectations for all full-time CSGS faculty members.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Security Studies, Strategic Studies, Crisis Management, Emergency Management, Disaster Management, or a closely related field from an internationally accredited institution. A demonstrated record of scholarly research and publication in relevant peer-reviewed journals is required, along with prior university-level teaching experience in security or strategic studies courses. Furthermore, candidates who hold professional certifications, have served in government security agencies, military institutions, or international emergency response organizations will be given strong consideration, as real-world expertise greatly enriches the academic experience of students in this specialized program.
CSGS places a strong emphasis on research that is both academically rigorous and practically relevant to contemporary security challenges. Consequently, all full-time faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda and contribute meaningfully to the college’s scholarly output. In addition, faculty are encouraged to collaborate with regional security institutions, government agencies, think tanks, and international research centers on applied security research projects. Therefore, candidates who can bridge theoretical scholarship with policy-relevant insights and real-world security practice will be particularly valued members of the CSGS academic community.
