American University in the Emirates
Nothing is Impossible
The American University in the Emirates (AUE) invites Ph.D. holder applicants for full-time faculty positions at the ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor within the College of Security and Global Studies (CSGS) for the Fall Semester of Academic Year 2026–2027 in Dubai. This is a distinguished opportunity for International Relations and Political Science scholars to join a specialized college that is uniquely positioned at the intersection of regional security, global politics, and strategic studies. Furthermore, successful candidates will contribute to AUE’s mission of producing knowledgeable, critical, and professionally prepared graduates for careers in diplomacy, government, and international affairs.
The college is seeking faculty members with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: International Relations and Political Science. Since CSGS programs focus on the intersection of security, diplomacy, and global governance, candidates who bring a strong theoretical foundation in international relations alongside practical knowledge of regional and global political dynamics are especially sought after. Additionally, faculty will have the opportunity to enrich the college’s Bachelor of Arts in Security and Strategic Studies program with their specialized academic expertise and research insights.
Full-time faculty members at CSGS will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across a teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year. In addition to teaching, faculty will assess student work, provide academic advising, and participate in departmental and university-wide administrative and committee activities. Moreover, engagement in scholarly research, publication in peer-reviewed academic journals, and active contribution to professional and community service in alignment with AUE’s institutional mission are core expectations for all full-time faculty members throughout the academic year.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in International Relations, Political Science, or a closely related field from an internationally accredited institution. Additionally, a strong record of scholarly research and publication in peer-reviewed journals focused on international relations, global governance, or regional political studies is required. Prior teaching experience at the university level in courses related to International Relations or Political Science is highly desirable. Furthermore, candidates with professional experience in diplomacy, foreign policy, international organizations, or regional security bodies will have a notable advantage during the selection process.
AUE places strong emphasis on faculty research productivity, and all full-time faculty at CSGS are expected to maintain an active and impactful research agenda. Consequently, candidates should demonstrate a clear and developed scholarly focus within International Relations or Political Science and show a commitment to publishing in high-quality, internationally recognized peer-reviewed outlets. In addition, faculty are encouraged to pursue collaborative research projects, participate in international conferences, and engage with think tanks, policy institutions, and regional security organizations to enhance both their personal research profiles and the college’s academic standing.
AUE is a prestigious institution of higher education in Dubai, accredited by SACSCOC and licensed by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). The College of Security and Global Studies is one of AUE’s seven dynamic colleges, offering specialized programs in Security and Strategic Studies, International Relations, and related disciplines.
