Role of Cardiovascular Technologist

Conduct diagnostic tests on cardiovascular systems of patients. Conduct and assist in electrocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations and other diagnostic tests.

Duties of Cardiovascular Technologist

• During diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, monitor the heart rate and blood pressure of the patients using electrocardiogram equipment.
• Notify the cardiologist if something appears wrong.
• Perform Echocardiography.
• Control and adjust the equipment according to specialist orders and as per the established protocol.
• Obtain medical history, Record patient identification and test results.
• Explain testing and therapeutic procedure to the patients so that they may cooperate.
• Ensure the comfort, privacy and safety of the patient during tests.
• Responsible for checking and maintenance of cardiology equipment.
• Supervise and train junior cardiology technologists and students.

Education & Experience

• Graduate from an accredited University of Echocardiography / Cardiovascular technology or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography.
• At least 3+ years of experience in an echo laboratory.

Skills

• Must be competent in interpreting and performing echocardiograms.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Spoken Arabic is desirable.
