About the Role

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting at American University in Dubai will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting and related financial disciplines within the School of Business. Furthermore, the successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda and contribute to the school’s AACSB accreditation and academic mission. Moreover, the professor will advise students, engage in service activities, and develop professional connections with the regional accounting and auditing community.

Key Responsibilities for Assistant Associate Professor of Accounting at American University in Dubai Dubai

• Deliver undergraduate and MBA-level courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, and taxation
• Develop and update course curricula and assessment materials aligned with AACSB accreditation standards
• Maintain an active research agenda and publish in high-quality peer-reviewed accounting journals
• Support student academic advising and mentorship at both undergraduate and graduate levels
• Participate in department meetings, committees, and academic governance activities
• Contribute to program assessment, accreditation reviews, and continuous improvement processes
• Develop partnerships with accounting firms, regulatory bodies, and professional organizations in the UAE
• Promote professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, and ACCA among students
• Lead or support case competitions and professional development workshops for students

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Accounting or a closely related field from a Western accredited institution
• Demonstrated experience teaching accounting courses at the university level
• High-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals commensurate with rank
• Professional accounting certification such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA is preferred
• Excellent English written and oral communication skills
• Ability to teach at undergraduate and MBA levels with evidence of teaching effectiveness
