University of Sharjah (UoS) presently has a job opening for eligible candidate for position of an Architect in Sharjah, UAE. UoS was founded in 1997 with the aim and vision to contribute to the qualities shared by renowned universities around the world. The education and research programs university offers tend to be Comprehensive and Multi disciplinary. UoS has 14 colleges and offers 122 programs across multiple Academic disciplines. Courses are offered in a variety of fields ranging from Sharia and Law to Health Sciences, Medicine, Fine Arts and Design, Engineering and Communication. They also offer a wide range of degree programs at the diploma, BSc/BA, MSc/MA and Ph.D. levels as well as the Executive MBA (EMBA) program.

Job Purpose of An Architect

Design new buildings, extensions or alterations to existing buildings or advise on restoration and conservation of old properties to support creating an appropriate environment for staff and students at the University.

Your Job Duties As An Architect At University of Sharjah, UAE

• Review and understand policy & procedures in order to be able to carry out daily work tasks as expected.
• Answer all stake holder inquiries, clarifications or any assistance related to planning and projects section .
• Perform professional architectural projects for University facilities such as creating designs and prepare project proposals.
• Manages the UoS facility design modifications, presentations, plans and archived documentations.
• Provides initial and final design proposals for additional buildings, facility modifications and future projects.
• Conducts site surveys, data collection and progress reports regarding university buildings.
• Assist in preparing project BOQ’s of project proposals.
• Manage architectural and construction projects through regular site visits and helps to coordinate contractors by providing project descriptions, analysis and coordinates between them.
• Prepare technical evaluations and project descriptions to support the contracts and finance departments.
• Produce drawings and specifications of architectural projects and files and organizes technical soft and hard copies drawings.
• Review civil aspects of the project and coordinates with the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing/Facility Engineers for technical information needed for their operations.
• Provide the necessary assistance and support to the line manager and other team members in ensuring the department or college KPIs are achieved by gathering the necessary data, preparing progress reports and help in implementing the approved action plans.
• Represent Department in communications with other departments in ongoing and future project developments.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or an  Engineering discipline.

Experience

• 4-6 years of UAE experience in similar role in higher education institutions.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications.
• Strong knowledge of building products, construction details and rules and quality standards.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of operating the required software or hardware (e.g. AutoCad).
• Project and time management skills.
