Role of MRI Technologist

To perform MRI examinations within the units/clinics and the Medical Imaging Department of the American Hospital .To be part of all Procedures and Processes that allow the Medical Imaging Department in providing a high standard of service and patient care. Assessing, Monitoring, Participating and Assisting in the daily Administration duties, Infection control /risk management, Quality improvement and Departmental / hospital wide in-services.

Responsibilities of MRI Technologist

  • Independently performs all requested MRI Examinations as per the Hospital and Department Guidelines.
  • Works closely with Radiologists to cater for all procedural needs and requirements.
  • Observing all safety measures in the Specialized areas like MRI Safety Screening form.
  • Cleans, stocks, checks operation of Equipment and Accessory devices for safety on a daily basis.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through Seminars, Workshops and Professional Affiliations to stay updated in latest trends.
  • Schedules patients for MRI Examinations.
  • Evaluates the nature of Critical and Emergency procedures and prioritizes patients accordingly.
  • Performs MRI procedures including Instructing and Manipulating patients.

What you’ll do

  • Select Techniques and Calibrate equipment to obtain high quality images.
  • Assist the Technical Director of Medical Imagining with the coordination of the Departmental Quality Improvement and Education Programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and unit projects. Implement/ evaluate Creative approaches to meeting goals.
  • Perform and monitor safety checks on patients, employees and visitors to comply with safety regulations in the MRI Suite.
  • Assist with Follow-up of Incident/Accident and Patient Complaints as directed by Chief Radiologist.
  • Keep MRI equipment and work area clean and hygienic.
  • Perform Miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Radiology / Radiography / Medical Imaging.
  • Current Registered Licensure in Country of citizenship or Professional practice.
  • At least Three (3) years of recent experience, with current clinical experience of (2) years in MRI.

Knowledge & Skills

  • MRI Technologists must demonstrate an Understanding of Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Medical Terminology.
  • Must possess, use and maintain knowledge about Magnetic protection and safety.
  • Must maintain a high degree of Accuracy in positioning and magnetic resonance technique.
  • Sensitive to the needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring and patient care skills.
  • Evidence of continuing education.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
