The College of Health Sciences at Abu Dhabi University is recently invite outstanding candidate to apply for the fulltime Teaching Assistant Nutrition & Dietetics (HND) Program. The starting date of the appointment is Spring 2023 24. Appointments are for an initial period of 2 years.

Duties of Teaching Assistant

• Teach undergraduate lab courses to students in the HND Program with hands on components such as nutritional assessment labs, medical nutrition therapy lab, food chemistry and analysis lab, food processing lab, etc.
• Plan hands-on learning activities to fulfill nutrition-related knowledge and competencies such as case studies, role-playing, simulations, group discussions and projects.
• Ensures labs are stocked with required consumables.
• Monitors and ensures lab equipment is well maintained and calibrated as required.
• Assists in conducting and administering lab experiments.
• Assists faculty members with research activities.
• Revise and update the HND Practicum Manual, Practicum student handbook and other educational documents on a yearly basis..
• Organize clinical, foodservice and community rotations at affiliated sites with respective faculty for HND Practicum.
• Counsel and provide guidance to students during visits to affiliated facility sites.
• Maintain Practicum student records.
• Facilitating processes for continuous assessment of the program and student learning outcomes by conducting and evaluating student, alumni and employer surveys.
• Records departmental meeting minutes.
• Assists with key department events.
• Proctors student exams.
• Assists in course file completion and compilation of accreditation documents.
• Function as an active member of the college through the participation in academic and professional services.
• Other academic/ administrative duties as needed.

Job Requirements

The requirements for the job role of Teaching Assistant Nutrition & Dietetics are as under:

•  MSc in Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching/precepting in clinical dietetics.
• Considerable work experience in clinical nutrition and foodservice/food sciences.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

• Familiarity with and adherence to international accreditation standards.
• Special Skills and Abilities: Time management, teamwork, presentation, written and oral communication, and computer skills.
• Dietitian License in the UAE or Equivalent.
