As Specialist Sustainability & CSR at Chalhoub Group, candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable employee engagement initiatives within the UAE and at Group level, whilst simultaneously supporting all CSR Regional Relays in successfully implementing their local initiatives; linked to their Group’s Sustainability pillars of People, Planet, Philanthropy and DE&I. The key responsibilities cover not only enhancing employee engagement rates but also identifying opportunities for cost-efficient partnerships with NGOs to further enrich employee engagement programs. The goal is to create a productive collaboration between employee involvement and meeting the local environmental and societal needs while minimizing cost impacts, ultimately reinforcing commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Responsibilities of Specialist Sustainability & CSR

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of all initiatives in the UAE, managing logistics, stakeholder relationships, participant tracking, communication, brand & business unit involvement and statistical reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement for future initiatives.
  • Establish cost-effective partnerships with NGOs and launch new initiatives tied to support pillars, presenting proposals and budgets to the CSO.
  • Assist RRs in setting and achieving their KPIs, conducting bi-monthly progress meetings and offering support as needed with direct 121’s (specifically KSA and Kuwait)
  • Develop and lead the creation of the Engagement Brochure for Brands & Business Units, boosting team engagement. Additionally, provide full support, advice and coordination for Brands and Business Units when launching team-building initiatives with a positive impact, ensuring comprehensive planning and execution.
  • Organize and launch annual sustainable retail campaigns, collaborating with internal stakeholders to drive high participation rates.
  • Escalate complex issues to the CSO for efficient and timely resolution.
  • Budgeting: Collaborate with the CSO to develop the annual employee engagement budget, advising on potential budget optimization and reallocation where necessary to maximize the impact of initiatives.
  • Follow up on Regional Budget spent and report to the CSO.
  • In charge of monitoring the budget regularly, processing invoices and following up on payments, providing a quarterly update to the CSO.
  • Regional Campaign: Strategize and align with the CSO to develop the regional campaign framework.
  • Lead the full implementation of the campaign in the UAE, involving all stakeholders, and provide support for regional implementation.

  • Impact Leaders Program: Continuously improve and annually review the regional Impact Leaders program, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Lead the program’s launch and internal communication efforts, while consistently enhancing its content and reach.
  • Meet the set KPIs for recruiting Impact Leaders in the UAE and assist Regional Relays in their local recruitment efforts.
  • Manage Ambassadors’ transitions, ensuring their engagement & active participation in the UAE program, while supporting Regional Relays with their local programs.
  • Reporting Create comprehensive event evaluation reports, providing in-depth insights into outcomes such as the number of trees planted, people supported and Chalhoub employees engaged, to track progress and impact.
  • In charge of regularly updating and analysing the regional measurement spreadsheet, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Oversee quarterly reporting, highlighting achievements relative to set KPIs within the region, contributing to performance assessments and future planning.
  • Spearhead the development of the quarterly business review and strategy for Employee Engagement and presenting insights and recommendations to the Board for informed decision-making and strategy refinement.
  • Family Office: Strictly adhere to the allocated budget, ensuring there is no overspending and optimizing resource utilization.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all NGOs, universities & schools that receive support, fostering effective communication & partnership.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to implement initiatives within the approved budget, guaranteeing efficient execution.
  • Produce thorough evaluation reports on the outcomes of initiatives, including clear recommendations for any necessary improvements or adjustments.
  • Regional Relays: Provide support, guidance and advice to regional relays (RRs), while empowering them to achieve their KPIs independently.
  • Lead the regional team by establishing templates, processes & global reporting standards, with RRs responsible for maintaining their files, reports & measurements.

Requirements for Role of Specialist Sustainability & CSR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field.
  • 2 years experience in sustainability, CSR, or related fields.

Skills And Knowledge Desired

  • A passion for CSR, Sustainability and philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and delivering Employee Engagement, CSR and Sustainability initiatives.
  • Advanced reporting and budgeting skills.
  • Expert project management capabilities.
  • Ideally you will have established a network of NGO’s, government entities and other CSR.
  • Able to influence, engage and manage a wider regional team.
