Duties as Specialist Internal Medicine

• Works closely with other concerned committees in developing policies and procedures to promote quality health care for Internal Medicine patients.
• Supervises or participates in supervision of intensive care areas when assigned.
• Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, with associates and with Management.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential nature.
• Produces written communications, assessments, proposals and administrative documents that are timely and of high quality.
• Evidences dependability in carrying out the commitments and obligations of the position.
• Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
• Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Medical Administrator or Medical Director.
• Complies with all OSH (Occupational safety and health )and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperates with hospital management to comply those requirements.
• Works in accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
• Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
• Complying with Waste management procedures and policies.
• Attending applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
• Ensures adequate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management.
• Designating a Safety facilitator who will be responsible for coordinating OSH activities within the department.
• Regularly discusses OSH issues or matters in departmental/ management meetings.
• Implementation and monitoring effectiveness of risk management program.

Qualification & Experience

To qualify for the role of Internal Medicine Specialist, following are the requirements:

• Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.
• Three years of residency.
• Certification by the Board of Internal medicine or Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or its equivalent).
• At least 5 years of practice as a licensed Internal Medicine Specialist.
• Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice Internal Medicine in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Desired Skills

• Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
• Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership.
• He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of work.
