About the Role

The Specialist Gastroenterologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatic conditions at Al Sharq Hospital in Fujairah. Furthermore, the role involves performing advanced endoscopic procedures, providing consultative services, and collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team. Moreover, the specialist will contribute to both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services, ensuring continuous high-quality care. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Department and play a vital role in the growth and development of the hospital’s gastroenterology unit.

Key Responsibilities for Specialist Gastroenterologist at Al Sharq Hospital Fujairah

• Lead the clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreatic disorders
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and ERCP
• Manage inpatient gastroenterology consultations and follow-up cases with clinical precision
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, and nursing staff
• Monitor patient progress and update treatment plans based on evidence-based clinical guidelines
• Develop and implement gastroenterology protocols aligned with JCI accreditation standards
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and departmental patient safety programmes
• Support and mentor junior medical staff and residents in clinical gastroenterology practice
• Promote a culture of excellence, compassion, and professionalism in patient-centred care

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised and accredited institution
• Board certification or specialist qualification in Gastroenterology or Hepatology
• Valid UAE medical licence (DHA, DOH, or MOH) or eligibility for UAE licensing
• Minimum 3–5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in gastroenterology
• Demonstrated proficiency in upper and lower GI endoscopy procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English; Arabic is an advantage
