Job Purpose of A Production Supervisor

Responsible to manage production of quality products at the right cost and delivered within the agreed time, along with Managing & coordinating the shift and employees.

Job Duties of A Production Supervisor

  • Analyze production targets and breakdown into objectives for each workstation per shift.
  • Planning and organizing shift employees in achieving daily production targets.
  • Monitor and ensure that all personnel adhere to work instructions & procedures.
  • Responsible to optimize machine efficiency, controls wastage, determines and analyzes yield.
  • Conduct studies to discover ways to improve efficiency of production processes.
  • Reduce the amount of defects or non conforming products by providing reports to management.
  • Enter all production related data on prescribed documents and transfer this information onto the SAP system.
  • To analyze, investigate & resolve variances and provide data to management.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and processed food products.
  • Stock control of all raw and finished goods and monitor shelf life and expiry dates, reporting issues to management.
  • Ensure by assisting in monthly cycle counting and providing feedback in writing for variances.
  • Coordinate with Quality Manager & ensure production team follows HACCP/ISO/BRC system.
  • Adhere to all company regulations and government legislations.
  • Ensure employee development/training.
  • Increase employee morale and handle queries of shift workers.
  • Ensure processing staff are adhering to the Health and Safety procedures at all times.
  • Monitor attendance and employee time management.
  • Participate in maintenance of operational controls and compliance with HACCP audit and regulatory guidelines for all activities.
  • Meet customer service levels by producing quality products within agreed timeframes.
  • Coordinate with Quality Team to ensure customer complaints are investigated and corrective action is completed.
  • Coordinates with Maintenance Manager to ensure preventative maintenance is carried out on all equipment and that operators have the necessary training with regards to preventative maintenance and operations.
  • Perform any other assignments as required by the Head of Business.

Qualification & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor degree in food science or any other equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Production Supervisor in perishable food production.
