About the Role
The Pharmacy Technician at Al Zahra Hospital Dubai will work under the supervision of licensed pharmacists to assist in the dispensing, preparation, and distribution of medications throughout the hospital. Furthermore, the role requires strong attention to accuracy, knowledge of pharmaceutical products, and adherence to DHA regulations and hospital pharmacy protocols. Moreover, the Pharmacy Technician will play an important role in maintaining pharmacy inventory, ensuring medication safety, and supporting clinical pharmacists in delivering optimal patient pharmaceutical care.
Key Responsibilities for Pharmacy Technician at Al Zahra Hospital Dubai
- Assist pharmacists in the accurate dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications to patients.
- Prepare and label medication orders in accordance with pharmacist instructions and hospital protocols.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and ensure proper documentation of all dispensed medications.
- Manage pharmacy inventory including ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceutical stock correctly.
- Monitor medication expiry dates and ensure proper stock rotation in all pharmacy areas.
- Operate pharmacy management systems to process medication orders and maintain accurate records.
- Coordinate with clinical units to ensure timely delivery of medications to wards and departments.
- Follow strict DHA and AZHD pharmacy regulations regarding controlled substances and cold chain medications.
- Report any medication discrepancies, near-misses, or adverse events to the supervising pharmacist.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe pharmacy environment at all times.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) Pharmacy Technician license or eligibility for DHA licensure.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, drug interactions, and safe medication practices.
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software systems is an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
