The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at UAEU is not filling a gap — it is building research capacity across several high-priority engineering domains simultaneously. This faculty position invites candidates who can establish an independent, nationally recognized research program in materials science and engineering, dynamics and control, vibration, aircraft systems, aerospace, or propulsion. The department offers access to advanced laboratory facilities, Centers of Excellence collaboration, and internal funding pathways that give a new faculty member real infrastructure to work with from day one. Candidates at all academic ranks are welcome, and the appointment level will reflect your record and experience directly.

Key Responsibilities for Open Rank Faculty position Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department Al Ain

• Build and lead an independent, sustainable research program in your area of specialization within mechanical or aerospace engineering. Grow that program into a nationally and internationally recognized body of work.
• Publish impactful research consistently in top-ranked, peer-reviewed journals relevant to your field. Contribute to UAEU’s rising international research profile through high-visibility outputs.
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Create new course content that strengthens both programs where gaps exist.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students across research projects, capstone work, and thesis development. Support students from initial research design through to publication and graduation.
• Secure external research funding from national agencies such as ASPIRE and ADEK, as well as international bodies. Build a funded research group over time.
• Collaborate with UAEU’s Centers of Excellence and interdisciplinary research teams across the university. Engage with engineering faculty in adjacent departments on joint initiatives.
• Contribute to departmental curriculum development, accreditation activities, and faculty governance responsibilities.
• Build professional relationships with industry partners, aerospace firms, and engineering organizations nationally and internationally.

Requirements & Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an internationally recognized institution, held at the time of appointment or shortly thereafter.
• Research track record commensurate with the rank applied for — from emerging publication profile at Assistant Professor level through to established grant and research leadership at Associate or Full Professor level.
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate engineering courses effectively, with capacity to develop new course content.
• Specialization in one or more of the following priority areas: materials science and engineering, dynamics and control, vibration, aircraft systems, aerospace engineering, or propulsion.
• Strong commitment to engineering education, including curriculum development and innovative pedagogical approaches.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student and faculty groups across interdisciplinary programs.
• BSc or BEng in mechanical or aerospace engineering is preferred as undergraduate preparation.
• Industrial or professional engineering experience is a strong advantage.
