Role of Neurology Nurse

At Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (UAE), the job role of an Acute Care Staff Nurse – Neurology/ Neurosurgery / Neuro Rehab is providing general and specialized direct and indirect patient care through the Application of Evidence-based nursing Procedures and Practices to patients of all ages on the assigned nursing units. This position is also responsible for demonstrating Competency in the Behavioral, Growth, Development and Psychosocial needs of patients being treated.

Responsibilities of Neurology Nurse

• Completes timely Patient Admission and Ongoing Assessments, plans and updates plan of care based on individual patient needs.
• Provides direct care and Evaluates outcomes, incorporating principles of family centered care.
• Monitors and Documents patients’ condition and effectiveness of care and interventions.
• Assesses Educational needs of patients and significant others considering cultural needs and other special concerns.
• Provides Teaching and Educational material to the patient and/or significant as appropriate.
• Validates and Documents patient and family understand of teaching.

What you’ll do

• Administer prescribed Medications in accordance with approved Policies and Protocols, utilizing barcode scanning.
• Carry out prescribed treatments in accordance with approved Policies, Protocols and Educational material procedures.
• Use the knowledge of your role and the roles of other professions to appropriately assess and address the health care needs of the patients and populations served.
• Demonstrate Commitment to providing evidence based practice care adhering to protocols for the care of patient populations in which assigned, reporting needed changes in practice supported by evidence, and participating in evaluating patient outcomes utilizing evidence.
• Delegate appropriate components of the nursing care plan to other members of the nursing team.
• Maintain Confidentiality regarding patient and family information by promoting professional interdisciplinary communication.
• Respect Patient Rights and demonstrate behaviors of a Patients’ First Philosophy .
• Incorporate the CCAD Professional Practice model and patient safety principles into clinical practice.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Minimum of 2 years Post-graduate Experience in Acute care setting.

Certification & License

• Valid and Active National License.
• BLS is required from AHA or Equivalent organization or must be attained within 3 months of employment.
• ACLS, PALS relevant to area of specialty.

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple duties simultaneously.
• Interpersonal skills.
