Purpose of A Junior Technician

• Responsible for phlebotomy, assisting lab sample collection and performing various laboratory clinical tests in anyone of or a combination of areas of specialization depending on the size and scope of the laboratory activity.
• Maybe assigned to or receiving supervision from senior medical technologist or supervising medical technologist. Medical technologist may rotate through the various laboratories in order to keep familiar with those laboratory procedures which may be ordered on an emergency basis when working in shifts.

Duties of A Junior Technician

• Responsible for phlebotomy (adult and pediatric) including collection of various laboratory samples as and when required.
• Responsible for performing Biochemistry, Haematology, Clinical pathology, basic Microbiology, Serology and specially requested tests on patients specimens as per laid down and approved laboratory standard operating procedures.
• Responsible for results validation and reconfirmation if required, including abnormal and critical results.
• Duly notifies the patient care unit or physician of any critical test results.
• Interacts professionally with all department members, physicians staff, administration and the Director of Clinical Laboratory and Pathology for daily day today laboratory practices.
• Records and maintains the laboratory and patient related data entry.
• Assisting in preparing lab statistics, daily / monthly quality controls, calibrations after due verification.
• To perform and follow quality assurance programmes for various laboratory sub-departments including internal and external quality assurance.
• Perform basic blood bank procedures including daily quality assurance and maintaining appropriate blood bank record.
• To observe and follow laboratory safety protocols and precautions including infection control practices by using appropriate PPE’S and approved procedures and helps in prevention or containments of the effects of adverse incidents.

What You’ll Do More?

• Use and maintain all laboratory equipment correctly including daily checks and routine maintenance and records for the various instruments in laboratory.
• Perform basic blood bank procedures including daily quality assurance and maintaining appropriate blood bank record.
• To observe and follow laboratory safety protocols and precautions including infection control practices by using appropriate PPE’S and approved procedures and helps in prevention or containments of the effects of adverse incidents.
• Shall maintain the confidentiality of the patient information and follow the ethics and professional behaviour while on assign duties.
• To attend and follow continuous medical education and training program.
• To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations, EIAC / ISO15189:2012 requirements & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging the professional duties.

Eligibility Criteria?

Qualification

• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Fluent in spoken & written English, Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.

Experience

• At least 2 years of Medical Laboratory experience.

License

• Currently licensed in country of origin and with DHA license to practice in Dubai UAE.
