Role of Lab Technician

Perform routine and emergency diagnostic tests and prepare reports for the physicians.

Accountabilities of Lab Technician

• Perform phlebotomy and guide the patients about obtaining of other samples.
• Perform microscopic examination for DLC and staining of peripheral blood smears.
• Prepare special stains for sickle cell, malaria and reticulocytes.
• Analyze seminal fluid, sperm count and motility.
• Maintain records for sample database.
• Perform tests like Rh type and blood grouping using specific antiserum.
• Perform cross match, Coombs test before blood transfusion.
• Ensure the proper working of all Instruments and reagents.
• Repair or replace the broken instrument.
• Ensure the Accuracy of procedures and results.
• Maintain the cleanliness and sterilization standards of the lab.
• Inform the lab supervisor of any mishaps or accidents.
• Take part in quality assurance and quality control programs.
• Responsible for storage and discarding of samples.

 Education & Experience

• Diploma in Medical/ Clinical laboratory technology.
• 1-2 years of medical lab experience.
