Purpose of Lab Technician

Responsible for performing and keeping record of all diagnostic tests, routine and emergency and preparing their reports.

Accountabilities of Lab Technician

• Take blood samples from patients of all age.
• Take other samples or guide the patient to give their samples for diagnostic procedures.
• Perform microscopic examination for white cell count and staining of peripheral blood smears.
• Prepare reagents.
• Maintain the inventory of different chemicals used in tests.
• Prepare special stains for malaria, sickle cell and reticulocytes.
• Perform analysis of sperm count and sperm motility.
• Perform tests like cross match, Rh typing, blood grouping, Coombs tests for blood bank.
• Ensure all equipment is in proper working condition and calibrated.
• Ensure the Accuracy of procedures and results.
• Maintain the sterilization and cleanliness standards of the lab.
•  Store and discard samples on time. 

 Education & Experience

• Diploma in Medical/ Clinical laboratory technology.
• 2-3 years of medical lab experience.
• DHA license holder.
