A college in the UAE needs a qualified Faculty member in Medical Laboratory Technology. This full time role involves teaching courses in clinical and classroom settings. You will use a practical, applied approach. The curriculum follows a learning by doing philosophy. You will teach second language learners in a student centric environment. In addition, you will respect students’ culture and traditions. You will also support and mentor students during internships and work placements. If you have a PhD or a master degree in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Parasitology, Virology, Hematology, or a related discipline, this role is for you. Three years of teaching experience and three years of industrial experience are required.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach courses in clinical and classroom settings. Align your teaching with course and program goals. Meet the needs and aspirations of students and the community.
• Develop and use various educational technology resources. Ensure effective and innovative instruction methods. Apply strategies for second language learners. Provide continuous feedback on student progress through tests, projects, assignments, and other tools.
• Take a student centered approach. Provide individual assistance to students. Deal promptly with student issues by liaising with the student, program supervisor, and other college personnel.
• Support and mentor students during internships and work placements. Maintain regular office hours to advise and assist students. Monitor student progress and take actions to support student success.
• Ensure teaching assignments are prepared in advance. Present material in an appropriate manner to support learning by doing. Develop course curriculum under line management guidance. Follow accreditation and international standards. Maintain relevance of materials.
• Provide input to program and course reviews. Make recommendations based on consultations with students, colleagues, and external agencies. Contribute to the college’s development by monitoring programs and identifying areas for improvement. Observe and implement college wide policies. Participate in extracurricular activities and community events.
• Revise curriculum as appropriate using faculty wide assessment information or industry advice. Finally, develop an awareness of and respect for the customs and cultures of students and employees. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You need a PhD or a master degree in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, Parasitology, Virology, Hematology, or a relevant discipline. Three years of teaching experience is required. Three years of industrial experience is also required. You are expected to engage in applied research relevant to your division’s interests and the national innovation agenda. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. A commitment to student centered, applied learning is also important.
