A college in the UAE needs a Faculty member for Applied Media. This full time role involves teaching courses in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Immersive Technology, 2D and 3D Design, Media Production, Communication, Digital Media, Content Creation, Branding, Social Media, Media Analytics, or Journalism. You will teach in a student centric learning environment. You must respect each student’s culture and traditions. In addition to teaching, you will help meet the division’s research goals. You will use research activities to inform your teaching. You will also develop students’ analytical and problem solving skills. If you hold a PhD or master degree in Design and Media Production, Digital Media, Applied Media, or a relevant discipline, this role suits you. Three years of teaching experience in one or more applied media disciplines is required.

Key Responsibilities for Faculty

• Teach applied media courses at various levels within the program. Use effective presentation skills for both theory and practice. Give students continuous feedback through tests, projects, and assignments.
• Use a student centered approach. Offer individual help when students struggle. Solve student issues quickly by talking with the program supervisor and other college personnel.
• Integrate technology into your teaching methods. Use specialist programs and equipment confidently. Stay current with industry practices, trends, and issues.
• Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and evaluation. Help preserve system wide and directorate specific policies. Participate in academic and extracurricular events on campus and within the community.
• Engage in research activities relevant to applied media. Publish your findings in reputable journals and conferences. Use research to inform your teaching and improve student learning.
• Finally, function as a team player within a multi cultural work environment. Complete any other duties your supervisor assigns.

Qualifications

You need a PhD or master degree in Design and Media Production, Digital Media, Applied Media, or a relevant discipline from an approved institution. A minimum of three years of teaching experience in one or more applied media disciplines is required. Applicable and relevant industry experience is preferred. You must provide instruction at various levels within the program. Possess specialist knowledge and the ability to operate specialist programs and equipment. Effective presentation skills for both theory and practice are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. You need a high degree of computer literacy and the ability to integrate technology into learning. Current knowledge of industry practices, trends, and issues is expected. Demonstrate the ability to function as a team player in a multi cultural work environment. Overseas teaching or training experience with non native English speakers is desirable.
