American University in the Emirates
Nothing is Impossible
The American University in the Emirates (AUE) invites Ph.D. holder applicants for a full-time faculty position within the College of Media and Mass Communication (CMMC) for Academic Year 2025–2026 in Dubai. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated media and communication scholar to join a dynamic and internationally recognized college and contribute to the education of the next generation of media professionals in the UAE. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to teach, conduct research, and actively participate in the academic and professional life of the college throughout the year.
The faculty member will be required to teach in one or more of the following specializations: International Communication, Public Relations, Editing for Mass Media, and Mass Communication Theory. Since these disciplines span both theoretical foundations and applied professional skills, candidates who bring a combination of academic expertise and relevant industry experience are particularly well-suited for this role. Additionally, the instruction will be delivered entirely in English, and candidates must demonstrate strong academic communication skills to effectively engage with AUE’s diverse and internationally oriented student population.
The successful faculty member will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across a teaching load of 12 credit hours per academic semester. In addition to classroom teaching, the faculty member will assess student work, provide constructive and timely feedback, and offer individualized academic advising to support students’ academic and career development. Moreover, active participation in administrative and committee activities, professional service, and community engagement initiatives is expected of all full-time faculty members at AUE, in alignment with the university’s broader mission and institutional values.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Public Relations, Mass Communication, or a closely related field from an accredited university in the United States or from a recognized institution accredited by an American accreditation body. Additionally, a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Mass Communication or a directly related discipline is required. A demonstrated record of scholarly research and publication in peer-reviewed journals is also essential. Furthermore, prior teaching experience at the university level in courses related to Mass Communication Theory, Public Relations, or International Communication will be considered a strong asset.
All full-time faculty at AUE are expected to maintain an active research agenda and contribute to the scholarly output of the college. Consequently, candidates should have a clear research focus within Media and Mass Communication and a commitment to publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed academic outlets. In addition, faculty are encouraged to engage in professional media practice, contribute to curriculum development, pursue external research funding, and collaborate with media industry partners and academic institutions both regionally and internationally. These activities enhance both the faculty member’s career and the college’s reputation.
AUE is a prestigious institution of higher education in Dubai, accredited by SACSCOC and licensed by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). The College of Media and Mass Communication is one of AUE’s seven dynamic colleges, offering programs in journalism, digital media, public relations, and mass communication. Since its founding, AUE has built a diverse and vibrant academic community of students and faculty from over 100 countries. Additionally, the college boasts state-of-the-art media production studios, broadcast facilities, and digital newsrooms that support both academic learning and professional skill development.

The estimated salary range for this full-time faculty position is AED 12,000 to AED 22,000 per month. Therefore, this role presents an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Mass Communication scholar seeking to build a meaningful academic career at a leading UAE university. Additional benefits include professional development funding, research support, and access to AUE’s comprehensive employee benefits program for all full-time staff members.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through the AUE official careers portal and submit a complete application package as soon as possible. Please include an updated curriculum vitae, copies of academic credentials, a research and teaching statement, and a list of recent scholarly publications.
