GEMS Education is seeking to hire an outstanding Director of Sports to join their  team in September 2024. The successful candidate will join Gems Metropole Al-Waha, where sustainability is at the heart of education. This state-of-the-art campus in Dubai showcases eco-friendly initiatives, providing aspiring teachers with the ideal platform to learn and teach sustainable values.

Responsibilities of Sports Director

  • Develop a strategic vision for the sports department and Physical Education curriculum that aligns with the school’s overall educational goals.
  • Lead the planning and execution of sports events, tournaments, and inter-school competitions to showcase students’ athletic achievements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate sports and physical education into the school’s broader educational strategy
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the sports department, including staff management, budget allocation, and facility maintenance.
  •  Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students participating in sports activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive sports environment that encourages participation, skill development, and sportsmanship.
  • Design, review, and enhance a comprehensive Physical Education curriculum that caters to different age groups and promote physical fitness, motor skills, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Integrate modern teaching methodologies, technology, and best practices to create engaging and effective PE classes.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor sports coaches and Physical Education instructors to ensure they provide high-quality instruction and guidance to students.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and provide feedback to staff members to enhance their teaching and coaching abilities.
  • Collaborate with parents, students, and community stakeholders to promote the importance of physical education and sports in a well-rounded education.
  • Develop partnerships with local sports clubs, organizations, and institutions to provide additional opportunities for student engagement and development.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of students in sports activities and Physical Education classes, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Analyze data and student feedback to identify areas for growth and tailor programs to meet students’ needs and interests.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in sports program management, preferably in an educational setting.

Other Requirements for Sports Director

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • In-depth knowledge of sports coaching, training techniques, and curriculum development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and staff.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and risk management in sports and physical education environments.
  • Passion for promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles among students.
