About the Role

The Assistant Professor in Basic Medical Sciences at Al Ain University will deliver instruction in subjects including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Histopathology, and Microbiology at the Abu Dhabi campus. This position reports to the College Dean and requires active engagement in teaching, laboratory supervision, research, and academic service. Furthermore, the successful candidate will contribute to curriculum mapping, accreditation processes, and the broader academic development of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. Moreover, this role involves mentoring students in academic and research activities, ensuring they are prepared for careers in the healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver lectures, practical sessions, and tutorials in Basic Medical Sciences including Anatomy, Physiology, and Histopathology.
• Evaluate and monitor student progress and provide feedback to improve and sustain student academic success.
• Conduct laboratory sessions and supervise student practicals in Basic Medical Sciences.
• Engage in quality research, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and supervise undergraduate research projects.
• Support curriculum development, course management, and review of teaching strategies aligned with accreditation standards.
• Participate in departmental meetings, academic planning, and quality assurance processes.
• Support and participate in local and international accreditation through curriculum mapping and alignment.
• Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students in their research activities.
• Organize academic events, workshops, and seminars to benefit the university community.
• Initiate and participate in community engagement activities benefiting AAU and the local community.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Basic Medical Sciences — Anatomy, Physiology, Histopathology, or related fields.
• Minimum 2+ years of proven teaching excellence at the university level.
• Research published in Scopus-indexed journals or high-repute international publications.
• Dedication to continued professional development and curriculum renewal.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Arabic, orally and in writing.
• Advanced use of educational technology including e-learning platforms and presentation tools.
• Willingness to provide all necessary and required services to the university and college.
