Job Purpose of A Stewarding (Steward) Team Leader At Jumeirah Beach Hotel Dubai

Support and adhere to departmental standards relative to kitchen hygiene and safety of the customers and colleagues.

Your Job Duties As A Stewarding (Steward) Team Leader At Jumeirah Beach Hotel Dubai, UAE

  • Supervise the functions of all Steward as per assigned shift.
  • Schedules preventive maintenance work and coordinates with engineering.
  • To ensure that all kitchen areas and food & beverage back of the House areas are cleaned up to the prescribed cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Perform twice weekly cleaning supplies and chemical inventory.
  • To minimize cost through breakage control, loss prevention and economical supplies and chemical usage.
  • Ensure that dishwashing, pot washing and glass washing machines are properly maintained.
  • Ensure safe & correct usage of stewarding machinery and equipment such as, dishwashing, pot Washing, glass washing, burnishing machines. This also includes wet and dry vacuums, floor scrubbers and garbage transport vans.
  • Assist in operating equipment periodic inventory taking for the whole food and beverage department.
  • Conduct monthly departmental training for stewarding staff.
  • Enter accurate and consistent daily reports into the department’s logbook.
  • Ensure that a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming are strictly observed by all staff members.
  • Make recommendations to Chief Steward /Asst Chief Steward on operational points that will help in updating the departmental standard operation manual.
  • Ensure that all stewards demonstrate the required standard of service at all times.

What You’ll Do More?

  • Assist Chief Steward /Asst Chief Steward in regularly monitoring staff performance against the agreed standard.
  • Ensure company, hotel and statutory rules, regulations and policy are adhered to at all times.
  • Act responsibly in regard to health and safety at work.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of fire prevention and ensure that staff follow the hotel evacuation procedures upon hearing the alarm.
  • To be security conscious with respect to guests, staff, hotel property and welfare, and to report suspicious circumstances to immediate superiors.
  • Assist Chief Steward / Asst in keeping upto date records and files which but not limited to the specifications of cost, breakage, par stock, training, etc.
  • Communicate positively with staff and colleagues to ensure effective team work and high morale.
  • Maintain good and positive working relationship with colleagues and all other departments.
  • Conduct daily shift briefings to stewarding staff to give information valuable to daily running operation of the department.
  • Attend meetings, briefings and training sessions or courses.
  • Always focus on the operation, redeploying employees as necessary.
  • Have a complete understanding of and adhere to company policy of and safety.
  • Respond to changes in the departmental function as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.

Eligibility Criteria?

Qualification

  • High school diploma.
  • Vocational or culinary education.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position.
  • Practical Experience in areas such as conducting performance appraisal, inventory management, using chemicals safely, operating dish washing systems, understanding equipment functions and preparation.

Skills

  • Able to prepare equipment based on function sheets.
  • Fluent English.
