Registered Nurse in Endoscopy at NMC Healthcare in NMC Royal Hospital, Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, UAE will uphold the reputation of the nursing profession at all times. Registered Nurse will act as a positive role model for all nursing and support staff. Must have insight of own behaviour on others. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care under the indirect supervision of senior nursing staff. Comply will all aspects of the UAE NMC Code of Conduct. Refuse to undertake any task for which they has not been trained and is not competent to undertake. Always seek expert help when the demand of care, service or skill, falls outside their capabilities. Only delegate tasks to those team members who are trained, skilled and competent to undertake such tasks. This is an Intermediate level full time job. And salary can range between 4000-9000 AED/month.

Responsibilities of Registered Nurse

• Ensure revalidation is managed in a timely manner.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure timely expert advice or senior nursing support is sought when a patient’s condition fails to respond to prescribed treatment.
• Manage a deteriorating patient without delay, using the EWS 2 escalation process and emergency algorithm.
• Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
• Assess and identify patients’ needs and implement and monitor the patient’s medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings.
• Perform systematic patient assessment and collect pertinent data about the patient’s health or situation.
• Understand and analyze the assessment information and data.
• Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
• Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient’s planned care.
• Create and evaluate patient care plans with the medical team.
• Record vital signs, recognize and address abnormalities.
• Define the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team, patients, and families.
• Maintain and update the technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice.
• Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and a safe environment.
• Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory exams.
• Perform essential life support (BLS)
• Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment.
• Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions.
• Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions.
• Provide wound care management.
• Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed.
• Facilitate the process of safe patient`s admission and discharge.

What you will do more

• Dons & adheres to operating room attire according to policy and procedure.
• Prepares room and assembles instruments & equipment based on patient’s surgical needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Correctly identifies patient and surgical site.
• Checks thoroughly the pre-operative checklist of patient; including completion of required diagnostic & laboratory procedures.
• Monitors patients’ vital signs in the pre-operative area and post-operative recovery room.
• Demonstrates skill in performing the duties of scrub nurse and circulating nurse.
• Provides safety to patient, to self & the whole surgical team by adopting safety protocols like ‘Time Out’.
• Recognizes that, when possible, surgical counts during a procedure should be performed by the same two individuals.
• Verifies correct recording of the surgical counts of soft goods, sharps, miscellaneous items, and items placed in the wound in a location that is visible to the surgical team (e.g., the white count board).
• Implements correct practices for the prevention of infection, practicing strict aseptic technique & maintenance of sterile field.
• Assist the surgeon and anesthetist during the operation and ensure appropriate handling of the specimen obtained during surgery.
• Organize patient transportation from the OT to the recovery room and carry-out and/or supervise all the postoperative activities to prepare the OT for the next scheduled operation or emergency.
• Demonstrate skill in surgical hand wash and appropriate knowledge of the infection control practices pertaining to operating theatre.
• Competent in monitoring of patients post anesthesia.
• Ensure that patients recovering from anesthesia receive optimum care and is able to demonstrate complete knowledge in the usage of Aldrete scoring.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient’s records and updates all relevant patient documentation / medical records as per hospital policy and procedure.
• Demonstrates competence in Cardio – Pulmonary Resuscitation technique .
• Strictly adheres to the waste segregation and disposal as per hospital policy.

Requirements for Role of Registered Nurse

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• License to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualification and experience this mandates.
• Basic life support qualification (within past 24 months)
• 2+ years experience/expertise in the clinical field in which they are employed.
