About the Role
The Specialist Critical Care (Junior) at Fakeeh University Hospital performs assessment and management of critically ill patients using an evidence-based approach, in compliance with hospital bylaws, policies, and procedures. Furthermore, the specialist provides comprehensive medical care to ICU patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac emergencies, and multi-system organ failure. Moreover, this role involves close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including surgeons, pulmonologists, and nephrologists to coordinate patient care strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to critically ill patients admitted to the ICU
- Conduct thorough initial assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans
- Perform invasive procedures including intubations, central line placements, and arterial catheterizations
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, laboratory results, and clinical status to assess treatment response
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and treatment strategies
- Communicate effectively with patients’ families regarding progress and treatment options
- Prescribe medications and administer treatments following clinical guidelines
- Contribute to clinical quality assurance including audits and updating clinical guidelines
- Participate in medical education of medical and nursing students as assigned
- Ensure discharge summaries are completed by the team at time of discharge
Requirements
- MD in Critical Care from a recognized institution
- Minimum 4–6 years of post-specialization experience in critical care medicine
- Most recent 3–4 years must be in a busy private hospital setting in the UAE
- Valid DHA license or eligibility as Specialist Critical Care is essential
- Strong decision-making and crisis management abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Patient-centered, compassionate, and culturally sensitive approach
