Login to Send MessageThe University of Stirling needs a Senior Sports Attendant to assist with daily building operations and staff supervision across its sports facilities. The University of Stirling needs a Senior Sports Attendant. This full time role lasts for 12 months. You will help run the sports facilities every day. You will also supervise staff. Your main goal is to deliver excellent customer care. You will make sure there are enough staff on duty. You will also keep the facilities safe and clean. In addition, you will provide lifeguarding services. If you have a current STA or RLSS Pool Lifeguard qualification, this role suits you. You also need a National Pool Plant Operators certificate. However, you can earn this within three months of starting. A First Aid at Work certificate is also required.

Coordinate daily operations for your shift
Act as the main contact for facility operations
Be the building key holder
Ensure the shift has enough staff at all times
Arrange cover for sickness or staff breaks
Monitor the quality of work from your team
Help train new operational staff
Oversee their ongoing work
Make sure cleaning and maintenance tasks are done well
Check pool plant room readings
Work with Duty Officers to solve problems
Give clear handover updates at shift changes
Report all faults and damages quickly
Log repairs and do regular stock checks
Use centre equipment and cleaning materials safely
Set up and take down equipment as needed
Run swimming pool plant equipment safely
Keep indoor and outdoor facilities clean and tidy
Open and close buildings securely
Work with security staff on building safety
Handle emergency situations using university rules
Record all incidents and accidents accurately
Check daily bookings on the leisure system
Make sure staff prepare facilities on time for customers
Be the point of contact for customer questions
Solve problems politely and helpfully
Make sure only members and paying customers use the facilities
Help with facility tours when asked
Follow service standards set by University of Stirling Sport
Help improve these standards based on customer feedback
Take part in continuous improvement efforts
Supervise the swimming pool safely
Set up equipment and facilities as needed
Check that all equipment and areas are safe and clean
Know and follow Normal Operating Procedures
Know the Emergency Action Plan well
Attend regular staff training and development sessions
Help improve the sports service whenever possible
Current STA or RLSS Pool Lifeguard qualification
Current National Pool Plant Operators certificate (or get it within three months)
Current First Aid at Work certificate
Good experience in sport or leisure as a lifeguard or attendant
Positive attitude and good problem solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication
Good organisation and people skills
Ability to set priorities
Friendly and approachable manner
Comfortable in a busy customer facing job
Team player
Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Willing to cover extra hours for holidays or sickness
Strong commitment to customer service
Able to work under pressure

Computer skills in Outlook, Word, and Excel
Experience supervising a team
Experience updating health and safety documents
Extra qualifications in sport, leisure, safety, or fitness
Experience with front of house leisure systems
Front line service experience
Cash handling experience
Sales experience
The annual salary ranges from £23,000 to £25,000. Your experience determines the exact amount. The university offers a pension scheme and generous annual leave. You will also have access to training and development. This role requires PVG scheme membership. Therefore, an offer depends on a successful check. This role does not offer sponsorship. You must already have the right to work in the UK.
