About the Role

Yasmina British Academy is seeking an outstanding Head of Chemistry for the Academic Year 2026-2027. This leadership position involves overseeing the Chemistry department, driving academic excellence, and ensuring outstanding teaching and learning across all year groups. Furthermore, Yasmina British Academy is rated Outstanding in all six ADEK performance standards, making it one of the top schools in the UAE and Middle East. Additionally, the school produces some of the very best I/GCSE and A Level results in the country.

Key Responsibilities

As Head of Chemistry, you will develop and implement departmental policies aligned with the school’s vision and high achievement standards. Additionally, you will establish, monitor, and evaluate short-, medium-, and long-term departmental development plans. Moreover, your duties include using data to identify underachieving students and implementing targeted support strategies, analysing school data and inspection findings to inform teaching practices, and ensuring schemes of work are relevant and inclusive. Furthermore, you will performance manage your team, hold regular department meetings, lead curriculum coverage and progression, and contribute to the school’s CAS Programme. In addition, you will serve as an Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor to Year 12 and 13 students.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field along with a teaching qualification. Additionally, a minimum of six years of teaching experience in the specialist subject up to GCSE and A Level is required. Furthermore, previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language is advantageous. Moreover, candidates should demonstrate a high level of professionalism, respect for all members of the school community, and a commitment to the well-being of children. A clean enhanced DBS check or police check is also required.
