About the Role

Yasmina British Academy is seeking an outstanding Primary Teacher with Head of Year responsibilities for the Academic Year 2026-2027. This leadership position is based in Abu Dhabi at one of the top-rated schools in the UAE. Furthermore, the successful candidate will combine classroom teaching with pastoral leadership, overseeing a year group and driving academic excellence. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and ensure outstanding progress for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

As Primary Head of Year, you will develop and implement policies and practices that reflect the school’s vision and commitment to high standards. Additionally, you will establish, monitor, and evaluate short-, medium-, and long-term development plans for your year group. Moreover, your duties include using data effectively to identify underachieving students and creating targeted support plans, ensuring appropriate schemes of work are in place with suitable provision for SEN, Gifted and Talented, and EAL students. Furthermore, you will set expectations for staff regarding teaching quality and student achievement, evaluate teaching and learning practices, and performance manage your team. In addition, you will manage the department’s resource and capital expenditure budgets and contribute to the school’s enrichment programme.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related subject along with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification. Additionally, a minimum of six years of teaching experience is required with strong knowledge and experience of the UK curriculum. Furthermore, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to an extensive enrichment programme and be passionate, caring educators.
