Job Description

GEMS World Academy Dubai is looking for an innovative Primary EAL Teacher to join their successful team from August 2024 to 2025. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience teaching in a PYP setting (Grades 1 to 5).  While experience in teaching the IB Primary Years Programme is preferred, outstanding teachers from any curriculum background are encouraged to apply. Alignment with the IB philosophy and commitment to the Learner Profile values are essential. A genuine passion for working in a non selective and culturally diverse community is also a key requirement. The selected candidate will be responsible to play a crucial role in supporting students whose first language is not English. Create a safe and supportive learning environment where they feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes.

Job Requirements of Primary EAL Teacher

The requirements for the job role of Primary EAL Teacher are as under:

  • A certified professional teaching qualification at degree level, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent specialism in EAL/English Language.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a Primary EAL Teacher.
  • A strong desire to continually improve their practice and deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences for their students.
  • A strong understanding of the IB PYP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred.
