Job Description of Physiotherapist

Responsible for assisting patients in rehabilitating physical problems caused by illness, injury, disability or aging, through treatment. The responsibilities of physiotherapists include planning treatments, reviewing recovery, and conducting therapeutic exercises with patients.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for patients under own care and support other team members to do likewise.
  • To undertake a comprehensive, highly specialist physiotherapy assessment of patients including those with the most complex presentation, using advanced investigative and analytical skills.
  • To select appropriate treatment techniques, including facilitation of normal movement, therapeutic handling, gait re-education, chest physiotherapy.
  • To use advanced clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate individual management and specialist treatment plans.
  • To review and evaluate patient’s condition at each physiotherapy session.
  • To amend the treatment program as necessary to achieve planned objectives.
  • To work with members of the multi-disciplinary team, to ensure optimal outcomes for the patient.
  • To consolidate and maintain highly specialist skills in relation to assessment and treatment of specialty area.

Your Accountabilities as Physiotherapist

  • To provide advice, teaching and instruction to patient, relatives and cares regarding their medical management and care needs.
  • To ensure a consistent approach to patient care, whilst promoting understanding of the aims of physiotherapy.
  • To communicate effectively with patients and cares, whilst addressing cultural, religious and language barriers.
  • Maximize rehabilitation potential, to ensure understanding of condition and address anxieties and concerns. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation, and gaining informed consent will be used with a wide variety of patients.
  • Work as a flexible member of the rehab team, communicating effectively with others.
  • Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply those requirements.
  • Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
  • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
  • Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
  • Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Education: Recognized degree or diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • Experience: Experience in the field of Respiratory Medicine, neurological rehabilitation and multidisciplinary working.

Other Requirements

  • Current valid registration in country of training and/or country of last employment.
  • Eligible for HAAD Licensing (DOH Licensed/Passed).
  • Post qualification courses in relevant clinical area, evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Excellent English language skills, Arabic would be an advantage.
  • Participation in Physiotherapy Quality improvement activities.
  • Good report writing, computer, communication and Interpersonal skills.
