Kanad Hospital is actively recruiting devoted and passionate candidates (UAE National) to join them as Inpatient Pharmacist in Al Ain. This role person will be responsible for interpretation of physicians’ orders, checking, verifying, compounding and dispensing medicines. He will also ensure compliance with all current departmental policies and procedures.

Role of Pharmacist

Identify patient correctly to ensure the 5 rights (patient, drug, route, time, and dose) and counseling patients on the effects, dosage and route of administration of their drug treatments.

Duties of Pharmacist

• Maintain effective communication with patients and their relatives. Ensuring medication reaches the patient in the correct form and dose – which include tablet, capsule, ointment, injection, inhalers, cream, and syrup.
• Provide information and make recommendations about over-the-counter drugs.
• Advice patients about durable medical equipment and home healthcare supplies.
• Give advice about diet, exercise, or stress management. Help patients manage conditions such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, or blood pressure.
• Respond to medication related queries from within the hospital, patients, their relatives. Also, recognize and respond to changes in patient’s condition.
• Prepare the sterile IV medications under aseptic conditions. Check for its quality and maintain the sterility.
• Responsible for accurate dispensing and timely distribution of drugs and medicines for In-patients and Out-patients. Maintain the In-patient profile.
• Answer telephone calls responding to questions or requests.
• Coordinate with Chief Pharmacist for developing and implementing mainly the hospital pharmacy policies and procedures to meet with JCIA requirements.
• Look after the Clinic area medication management, which includes floor stock inventory & stock updating in coordination with Chief Pharmacist & nursing department.
• Coordinate with Chief Pharmacist and IT department to update the IT requirements towards the pharmacy service development program. Getting medication approvals from various insurance companies.

Your duties in the role

• Check the medicines shortage regularly and request for re-order. Regularly monitor the short expiry medicines, rotation of stock for the effective handling of the near expiry drugs.
• Coordinate with the supervisor for the replacement of the near expiry medicines. Also, check the supply from stores and enters inventory data into the computer system whenever possible.
• Ensure medicines are stored appropriately and securely to maintain freshness and potency.
• Manage the medication error and support the drug utilization information system.
• Be aware of the latest medicine and their availability.
• Supervise and check the work of pharmacy tech, pharmacy intern / student pharmacist and less experienced staff in the absence of Chief pharmacist.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Chief pharmacist.
• Ensure to keep the department secure, clean, neat, and tidy always.

Clinical / Technical Competencies

• Product distribution, dispensing medication with ethics and professionalism. Practice within the legal requirement and upholding the ethical principle.
• Compounding sterile and non- sterile product according to the recognized guidelines and standard of practice.
• Safe and effective patient care in partnership with the patient and in collaboration with other health professionals. Meet the patient’s health and drug-related needs to achieve the patient’s health goals.
• Maintain effective and consistent communication system.
• Pharmacovigilance program to ensure quality, safety and integrity of product, create a culture of patient safety.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
• 3years related working experience is preferred.
• Freshers are welcome to apply.
