Job Description

Pharmacist at NMC Specialty Hospital will dispense medications following prescriptions issued by physicians, dentists, or other authorized medical practitioners. This is an Intermediate level full time role. For this position salary ranges from 6000-13000 AED, which may be slightly negotiable during the interview process.

Responsibilities of Pharmacist

  • Dispense medications to inpatient as per prescription.
  • Reviews and interprets each prescription/ medication order before dispensing to ascertain correctness of strength, dose instructions and dosage form.
  • Patient counseling- Provides appropriate patient information concerning the dispensed medications.
  • Clarify any prescription abnormality with the prescribing physician. Any unresolved problems are referred to chief pharmacists.
  • Supervise the repackaging, labeling and documentation of medications issued to other departments.
  • Answers drug related inquiries received from doctors, nurses and customers. Those inquiries which cannot be answered with certainty are to be referred to the chief pharmacists.
  • Assists in the training of new pharmacist and pharmacist staff as per the direction of the chief pharmacist.
  • Performs specialty pharmacy activities, as delegated and trained
  • Responsible for medicine’s stock, near expiry medicines monitoring & updating controlled medicine register on daily wise.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties, as directed by the chief pharmacist.
  • To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

Requirements for Role of Pharmacist

  • Pharmacists must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or school of pharmacy.
  • At least two (2) years experience in a hospital as a pharmacist.
  • DHA license.

Skills And Knowledge Desired

  • Thorough knowledge of UAE Laws, company policies, regulations precedents applicable to the area of work.
  • Good command of English. Arabic is desirable but not essential.
