About the Role
The NICU Charge Nurse at Fakeeh University Hospital is responsible for ensuring that patient care activities are carried out safely and effectively within the neonatal intensive care unit. Furthermore, this role requires demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to diversity, creating a culturally competent and inclusive environment. Moreover, patient experience and quality outcomes are key aspects of this position, including enhancement of service lines, review of treatment plans, and interpretation of standards of care. The role also involves effective communication with all members of the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff and monitor their needs within the NICU department
- Coordinate daily administrative duties, including schedules, nursing assignments, and patient care
- Oversee patient admissions, transfers, and discharges in the neonatal unit
- Mentor and train new staff members while providing ongoing support and guidance
- Monitor medical charts and provide compassionate care to patients and families
- Liaise with doctors and administrators and communicate protocol changes to staff
- Record and maintain accurate reports and patient medical records
- Identify issues or emergencies and respond in a calm and efficient manner
- Administer all drugs and medications as per local policies and procedures
- Coordinate and report nursing issues of significance or concern to management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Master’s Degree in Nursing is an advantage)
- Current DHA license as a Registered Nurse is essential
- Minimum 8–10 years of total nursing experience
- Last 3 years must be in a supervisory role managing a NICU department
- Recent 3 years of experience must be specifically in NICU
- Certification in nursing management from a recognized professional organization is a definite advantage
- Strong leadership, communication, and crisis management skills
