Key Responsibilities

The following tasks will be performed by the Music Teacher

• Set challenging tasks and practical music activities that ensure high levels of pupil interest

• Provide clear lesson structures while maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge

• Identify SEN and EAL pupils and adapt teaching strategies to meet their needs

• Use effective questioning and listen carefully to address errors and misconceptions

• Select appropriate learning resources including ICT, instruments, and library materials

• Mark and monitor pupil work regularly, setting clear targets for progress

• Assess and record pupil progress systematically using formal and half termly assessments

• Communicate with parents through informal contact, parent evenings, and written reports twice yearly

• Attend staff meetings, provide cover for absent colleagues, and contribute to at least two extra curricular activities each week

• Follow all health and safety rules and perform playground duties with due diligence

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Education is required. A PGCE or QTS must also be held. Two years of school experience is essential. English and Music qualifications are mandatory. Proven ability to deal effectively with students and teachers is expected. Skilled use of music equipment and instruments safely must be demonstrated. Strong oral and written communication skills in English are required. A clean criminal background check covering the previous ten years of employment history will be needed. An online due diligence search will also be completed.
