Medical Transcriptionist HealthPlus Abu Dhabi

Reporting to the Lead, the Medical Transcriptionist at HealthPlus is responsible for providing assistance to Physicians and relevant medical caregivers in related administrative activities. This involves transcribing patients’ medical reports and dictated notes of Physicians to be stored in the patients’ electronic medical records (EMR) as well as reviewing, editing and developing relevant documentation if and when required.

Responsibilities of Medical Transcriptionist

• Transcribes patients’ medical reports and any notes of Physicians and/or relevant medical caregivers through dictation systems and/or live dictation. Ensure permanent storage of patient data in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Assists in the transfer of patient data from paper to electronic format in compliance with the relevant rules and regulations.
• Responsible for implementation of retention and destruction policies and procedures for all medical record documentation as necessary.
• Develops and sends insurance request forms to be sent to the relevant Physician for approval. Verifies the insurance approvals for the prescribed treatments if applicable.
• Arranges patient referrals to Physicians and/or other medical caregivers for assistance in understanding the information in patient records.
• Reviews and documents patient visits and treatments as well as telephone orders in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures regular update of the required documents on relevant systems, in line with the asset regulations and policies.
• Provides and retrieves patient records by conducting activities including processing, abstracting, analyzing and coding. This is to enhance provision of transparent and high-quality patient care.
• Assists the Physicians and relevant clinical caregivers in administrative activities.
• Liaises with relevant caregivers in processing requests for protected medical information and the release of patient information in adherence to the asset protocols and regulations.
• Records all requests and relevant documentation in the patient’s medical record as per the disposition of request, type of access, date and name of person processing the request.
• Assists in determining the financial status of patients and their eligibility for patient care services.
• Assists patients in accurately completing the appropriate forms and documents required for storage in medical records and ease of consultation.

Qualifications & Experience

Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of Medical Transcriptionist at Mubadala Health:

• Vocational/Technical Education.
• Trainings in medical care such as Medical Coding.
• Experience in medical transcription.

Job Skills

• Ability to transcribe recorded Physicians’ diagnosis and encode in software/systems.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
