About the Role
The Medical Transcriptionist at Burjeel Holdings is responsible for converting voice-recorded medical reports dictated by physicians and healthcare professionals into accurate written documents. You will work closely with clinical departments to ensure that patient records, discharge summaries, operative reports, and consultation notes are transcribed promptly and with precision. Furthermore, this role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures to ensure documentation quality and compliance. Moreover, the position supports both male and female applicants with a minimum of two years of relevant transcription experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical reports including discharge summaries, operative notes, and consultation records
- Review and edit transcriptions for accuracy, grammar, spelling, and medical terminology
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection and HIPAA-equivalent standards
- Coordinate with clinicians and medical staff to clarify unclear dictations or missing information
- Manage transcription workload efficiently to meet turnaround time requirements
- Ensure all transcribed documents are properly formatted and filed in the hospital information system
- Monitor transcription quality and support audits of documentation accuracy
- Stay updated on evolving medical terminology, clinical abbreviations, and specialty-specific language
- Support the health information department with data entry and records management tasks as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in health information, medical administration, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical transcription within a hospital or clinical setting
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical documentation standards
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy with proficiency in transcription software
- Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and medical writing conventions
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality in all work
