Purpose of A Medical Laboratory Technologist

Responsible for the accurate and precise performance of all laboratory protocols in the assigned laboratory sections for all shifts.

Job Duties of A Medical Laboratory Technologist

• Ensures operation of analyzers, and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
• Runs daily quality control checks and performs CAP Proficiency testing as required.
• Provides a healthy and safe working environment by maintaining cleanliness in the laboratory and practicing preventive measures.
• Performs routine laboratory testing as per departmental policies and procedures.
• Communicates critical, urgent, and abnormal results with ordering physicians.
• Communicates with nursing and physicians on patient preparation, sample collection and integrity.
• Prioritizes workload in an efficient productive manner.
• Promotes ethical practices & maintain patient confidentiality.
• Participates at the lab monthly focus group.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification & Experience

• BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science or Biomedical Science.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in similar role.

Licensing & Certification

• Current/Valid DHA License or Eligibility Letter
• International accreditation as a Certified Laboratory Technologist from American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is recommended.
