Job Description
Maritime & Shipping Cluster Technical Manager at Abu Dhabi Ports will be responsible to lead the technical management of diverse fleet of vessels, will be responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and compliance of fleet, playing a critical role in safeguarding assets, personnel, and the environment. This is a pivotal position within a renowned shipping company, offering the opportunity to contribute to operational excellence and spearhead technological advancements across a complex maritime fleet.
Duties of Maritime & Shipping Cluster Technical Manager
- Manage the overall technical condition and maintenance of the fleet, including drydocking, surveys, and repairs.
- Oversee the implementation of preventive maintenance programs, optimizing equipment lifespan and minimizing downtime.
- Monitor vessel performance data and identify areas for improvement in efficiency and fuel consumption.
- Liaise with shipyards, classification societies, and other marine service providers to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
- Implement technological advancements and innovative solutions for enhanced onboard safety and navigation.
- Develop and implement safety management systems (SMS) for the fleet, adhering to international maritime regulations and company standards.
- Investigate and analyze marine incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Conduct safety audits and ensure crew compliance with safety procedures and best practices.
- Manage environmental compliance issues, minimizing the impact of operations on the marine environment.
- Lead and motivate a team of marine engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews, resolving operational challenges and ensuring smooth voyages.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including shipyards, classification societies, crew members, and senior management.
- Develop and present technical reports, analyses, and recommendations to senior management.
Eligibility Requirements
The eligibility requirements for role of a Maritime & Shipping Cluster Technical Manager are as under:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in marine engineering and technical management within the shipping industry.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Fluency in English, additional maritime languages a plus.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a large and diverse fleet of vessels.
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations, classification society requirements, and industry best practices.
- Strong understanding of marine engineering principles, vessel equipment, and maintenance procedures.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address technical challenges.
- Effective leadership and communication skills, fostering collaboration and a culture of safety.
- Experience in managing and motivating technical teams.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
