About the Role
The Lecturer in Semiconductor Photonics will hold a full-time appointment in the Institute of Photonics within the Department of Physics. Furthermore, the successful candidate will benefit from a competitive salary, relocation support, and visa sponsorship including the Global Talent visa. Moreover, the initial focus will be on establishing a substantial, strategically-aligned research portfolio with appropriate attraction of external funding. This role also involves contributing to undergraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision.

- Develop and lead an independent research programme in semiconductor photonics
- Secure external research funding from national and international bodies
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities
- Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
- Supervise doctoral and postgraduate research students
- Collaborate with industry partners and academic colleagues internationally
- Participate in knowledge exchange and technology transfer activities
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Institute of Photonics
- Engage in departmental and university administrative duties
- Promote the university through conference presentations and professional networks
Requirements
- PhD in Semiconductor Photonics, Physics, or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrated track record of high-quality research publications
- Experience in securing or contributing to research grant applications
- Strong expertise in semiconductor photonics and related technologies
- International researcher who has not resided in the UK during the 24 months prior to the grant start date
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for teaching and collaboration
- Ability to develop innovative research aligned with strategic priorities
