North London Collegiate School Dubai is looking for an inspiring Head of Art and Design to lead its creative arts department starting 1st September 2026. This full time leadership role is based in Dubai within the prestigious Hartland development. If you are passionate about fostering creativity, intellectual independence, and artistic excellence in students from ages 3 to 18, this position offers an outstanding opportunity. You will lead the Art and Design curriculum across the IB Continuum, including the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme. North London Collegiate School Dubai opened in 2017 as part of the NLCS family of schools. The UK founding school has pioneered women’s education since 1850 and remains among the highest achieving schools in Britain. NLCS Dubai is a coeducational IB continuum school offering the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme. The school aims to be the top performing IB World School in the UAE, replicating the ethos and standards of its UK parent school while remaining sensitive to local culture.
Lead and manage the Art and Design department, including curriculum development, resource management, and staff mentoring. Ensure the delivery of a rigorous and inspiring art programme across all year levels.
Teach Art and Design to students in the IB Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma programmes. Encourage students to study beyond the examination syllabus and develop their intellectual independence and love for the subject.
Organise and oversee art exhibitions, both within the school and in the wider community. Showcase student work and celebrate creative achievements.
Contribute to the vibrant co curricular life of the school by running art clubs, societies, and workshops. Collaborate with other departments on cross curricular projects.
Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback. Maintain high standards of assessment and reporting.
Work closely with the NLCS global family of schools, participating in joint projects, student exchanges, and videoconference debates. Finally, ensure all safeguarding and child protection policies are followed at all times.
You need a recognized teaching qualification such as PGCE, BEd, or equivalent, plus a degree in Art, Design, Fine Arts, or a related subject. Significant teaching experience in Art and Design at primary or secondary level is essential. Leadership experience as a Head of Department, subject lead, or similar role is highly desirable. Experience teaching the IB programmes, particularly the Diploma Programme Visual Arts, is a strong advantage. You should have a proven ability to inspire students and colleagues, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the ethos of rigorous scholarship and pastoral wellbeing.
The monthly salary for this Head of Art and Design role ranges from 18000 to 25000 AED depending on experience and qualifications. You will receive a competitive package including an initial two year contract, furnished accommodation, relocation costs if applicable, annual return flights to your home country, comprehensive health insurance, and tuition fees for eligible children. Additionally, you will be invited to travel to London for induction and training at the UK school, fully funded by the school’s partners.
