The following tasks will be performed by the Secondary English Teacher
Plan and teach well structured lessons that impart knowledge and develop understanding effectively
Set homework and plan out of class activities to consolidate and extend pupil learning
Use formative and summative assessment to secure pupil progress and inform future planning
Give pupils regular feedback through accurate marking and encourage responses to that feedback
Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils, including SEN, EAL, and high ability students
Manage behaviour effectively using clear rules, praise, sanctions, and rewards in line with school policy
Contribute to the design of an engaging English curriculum and develop schemes of work and department resources
Communicate with parents about pupil achievements and well being through meetings and written reports twice yearly
Attend parent evenings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions
Follow all health and safety rules and perform playground duties with due diligence
A bachelor’s degree in teaching from an accredited institution is required. A PGCE and QTS must also be held. Three years of full time teaching experience from an accredited institution is essential. In depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum and associated assessment methods is expected. Proven leadership and strong planning skills must be demonstrated. A clean criminal background check covering the previous ten years of employment history will be required. An online due diligence search will also be completed. A UAE equivalency certificate is needed.
The current market salary for a Secondary English Teacher in Abu Dhabi ranges from 13,000 to 16,000 AED per month depending on experience and qualifications. A generous housing allowance or furnished accommodation is provided by the school. Annual flight tickets home, comprehensive health insurance, and visa sponsorship for the employee are also included.
