Looking for Design Teacher jobs in Dubai? Gems Modern Academy Dubai, part of the GEMS Education network in the UAE, is currently hiring a Design Teacher for Product and Digital Design. Additionally, this is an exciting opportunity for educators who are passionate about the IB MYP Design curriculum and want to inspire creative problem solving in students.
About the Role
As a Design Teacher at Gems Modern Academy Dubai, you will teach MYP Design to middle school students, incorporating the IB framework and philosophy into lesson planning and delivery. Furthermore, you will foster an environment where students engage in authentic design processes and apply critical thinking skills to real-world challenges. The successful candidate will guide each student through the design cycle while encouraging student-led inquiry and exploration.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach MYP Design to middle school students incorporating the IB framework and philosophy
- Foster an environment where students engage in authentic design processes and apply critical thinking to real-world challenges
- Facilitate student-led inquiry and exploration, guiding each student through the design cycle
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary connections and enhance learning outcomes
- Utilize a range of digital tools, prototyping materials, and design software to support hands-on learning
- Assess student work using IB MYP criteria and provide constructive feedback to support growth
- Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Technology Education, or a related field (B.Ed. preferred)
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching Design or Technology at the secondary level
- Strong understanding of the IB MYP Design curriculum and assessment criteria
- Proficiency with digital design tools and prototyping technologies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
