About the Role

As Deputy Head of Secondary at Gems Winchester School Fujairah, you will support the Head of Secondary in providing strategic direction and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning. Furthermore, you will promote a positive, inclusive school culture that enables every student to thrive. The successful candidate will also oversee assessment practices, lead behaviour management and wellbeing initiatives, and support department heads with curriculum implementation across secondary phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Head of Secondary as required across all operational and strategic areas
• Oversee teaching, learning, and assessment in all secondary phases
• Support department heads and teachers with curriculum implementation and quality assurance
• Lead behaviour management, wellbeing initiatives, and pastoral programmes
• Monitor and analyse student progress data to drive academic improvement
• Build strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community
• Contribute to school improvement planning and strategic priorities

Requirements

• Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field
• Proven leadership experience at middle or senior level in a secondary school setting
• Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and school improvement strategies
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
• Experience with British or international curriculum frameworks is preferred
