Looking for Clinical Pharmacist jobs in Abu Dhabi? Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) is currently seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join their Clinical Pharmacy department. Additionally, this full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced pharmacists to work in one of the UAE’s largest tertiary hospitals.
About the Role
The Clinical Pharmacist at SSMC will serve as a Pharmacotherapy specialized Healthcare Professional, efficiently designing, recommending, and monitoring patient-specific pharmacotherapy to ensure optimal outcomes. Furthermore, the role involves assisting patient care in defined units by planning, managing, and advising specialist pharmaceutical care programs. Moreover, the successful candidate will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective drug treatment delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, monitor, and advise specialist pharmaceutical care programs for patients in defined units
- Review medication orders and patient medication profiles for appropriateness of therapy
- Conduct medication reviews and histories of newly admitted patients to resolve treatment issues
- Perform clinical evaluations to assess medication use appropriateness and safety
- Prepare and oversee medication orders for drug interactions, duplication, allergies, and adverse reactions
- Advise on pharmaceutical dosage including pediatric doses, IV admixtures, TPN, and chemotherapy
- Interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic tools to assess drug therapy safety and effectiveness
- Supervise and advise unit-based pharmacists in clinical areas as part of a leadership role
- Contribute to the development of Clinical Practice Guidelines, policies, and HIS enhancements
- Provide drug information and education resources for patients, students, and healthcare professionals
Requirements
- BSc plus MSc or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
- Current National License with eligibility for DOH licensure in the UAE
- Minimum 6 years as a hospital pharmacist, including 5 years as a clinical pharmacist or residency training
- Board Certification or residency in clinical pharmacy preferred
- Evidence of teaching, mentoring other pharmacists, and research activity desired
- Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, drug interactions, and evidence-based medicine
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary collaboration
