About the Role

The Clinical Pharmacist at Reem Hospital will deliver high-level clinical pharmacy services to patients and provide clinical practice supervision to staff within the Pharmacy Department. Furthermore, the role involves providing pharmaceutical expertise, therapeutic assessments, and disease management to improve patient outcomes. Moreover, the successful candidate will ensure the delivery of international standards of care in accordance with established national and international practices, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of departmental strategic plans and ensure alignment with the facility’s mission and vision.
• Monitor and review medication orders and patient profiles for appropriateness of therapy and drug interactions.
• Coordinate formulary management initiatives to optimize patient safety and medication availability.
• Manage compliance with Joint Commission International Standards related to medication management and use.
• Support the investigation of complaints, incidents, and adverse drug reactions in a timely manner.
• Develop and implement evidence-based standards that guide clinical practice improvement initiatives.
• Promote quality assurance programs and maintain an updated risk register for the pharmacy department.
• Contribute to staff development activities, educational programs, and the Clinical Competency Programme.
• Counsel patients and nurses with clear medication instructions, ensuring proper understanding of dosage and usage.
• Lead key performance indicator monitoring and develop action plans to enhance service delivery.

Requirements

• PharmD or Doctor of Pharmacy (minimum six years course duration), or BSc in Pharmacy with a postgraduate qualification leading to PharmD or Masters in Clinical Pharmacy.
• Not less than 4 years of experience as a hospital clinical pharmacist within an acute care hospital setting.
• Valid and current pharmacy licensure from the home country along with BLS certification.
• Knowledge of UAE Health Regulations and international accreditation experience is an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to work independently.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English with the ability to relate to people from different cultural backgrounds.
